More than 670 students have benefited from the initiative, which this year took place in Galicia, Madrid, and Valencia.

For the fifth year in a row, we have completed the fifth edition of our GenTech programme, an initiative aimed at attracting young people to careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), which this year extended its scope to the Valencia region, in addition to Galicia and Madrid.

Held every year from January to May in secondary schools, GenTech creates a space for relaxed conversations where students can ask questions and share their concerns with Altia professionals. Since its launch in the 2018/2019 academic year, it has grown exponentially, reaching a new milestone this year with the participation of more than 650 students from 17 schools. In these talks, Altia professionals of different profiles and ages share their training and professional experiences, demonstrating how technological skills can be essential tools for the future.

Another key pillar of GenTech is the promotion of diversity in teams and the inclusion of women in the technology sector. This approach aims not only to create a fairer environment, but also to develop technological solutions that are more inclusive and representative of society as a whole.

The feedback collected by Altia after this edition is very positive and the most valued aspects are the discovery of the professional opportunities offered by STEM careers, the employability offered by this type of career and the importance of digital training as a tool for the future.

"Most of the schools where we have held GenTech talks have expressed their desire to continue participating in and recommending the programme, as they see it as a relaxed and accessible way to reach young people and stimulate their interest in STEM careers," said Josefina Fernández, Director of Sustainability & ESG. "Our intention is to continue sharing Altia's technological gene in future editions and to reach more schools and provinces in Spain with this initiative," said Fernández.

Promoting digital talent

GenTech is an Altia initiative that forms part of the activities of the Galician Digital Talent Promotion Plan, DigiTalent 2030, promoted by AMTEGA, in which we participate as one of the companies that have signed the Galician Digital Pact to promote technological growth in the region.

More than 670 students from 17 schools in Galicia, Madrid and Valencia participated in the fifth edition of GenTech. The expansion into this latest Autonomous Community is part of the steps taken in the last two editions to extend the project across all of Spain.
